2 days desert escape to Zagora desert

You’ll begin your journey with an early morning departure from Marrakech, climbing the winding roads of the High Atlas Mountains and crossing the spectacular Tizi n’Tichka Pass at over 2,260 meters altitude. Enjoy panoramic views and stop for photos as you pass remote Berber villages. Around midday, visit the legendary Ait Ben Haddou, a fortified village made of red earth and straw, where movies like Gladiator and Game of Thrones were filmed. Continue to Ouarzazate, often called the “Hollywood of Africa,” then drive through the breathtaking Draa Valley, Morocco’s largest palm oasis stretching hundreds of kilometers. As you reach Zagora, meet your camels and trek into the soft desert sands just before sunset. After settling into your desert camp, enjoy a traditional Moroccan dinner followed by Berber music around the fire.

Wake early to soak in the sunrise over the desert, a moment of pure tranquility. After breakfast at camp, ride your camel back to meet the vehicle and begin your return journey. Drive north through Agdz, a small town nestled at the head of the Draa Valley, and pass by ancient kasbahs and mountain landscapes that seem untouched by time. Pause in Ouarzazate for lunch or a quick visit to the Taourirt Kasbah, then continue across the High Atlas Mountains back to Marrakech.
