This 8 days journey is the ultimate Moroccan adventure, combining the majestic landscapes of the Sahara with the cultural richness of Fes and the unique charm of Chefchaouen. Starting in Marrakech, you’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains, explore ancient kasbahs, ride camels into the golden dunes of Erg Chebbi, and spend a magical night in the desert. Then travel north to the spiritual heart of Fes, and onward to the enchanting blue city of Chefchaouen, nestled in the Rif Mountains. This tour offers a well-rounded experience of Morocco’s nature, culture, history, and hospitality.
Depart Marrakech via the scenic Tizi n’Tichka pass in the High Atlas Mountains. Visit the UNESCO World Heritage site of Ait Ben Haddou, a stunning clay village. Continue through Ouarzazate, visit the Taourirt Kasbah, then head toward the Valley of Roses and reach the dramatic Dades Gorges. Dinner and overnight in a guesthouse
Drive to Todra Gorges, Morocco’s most spectacular canyon, with time for a short walk. Continue through palm valleys and reach Erfoud, known for fossils and date palms. Arrive in Merzouga and enjoy a camel trek into the dunes of Erg Chebbi. Watch the sunset, dine under the stars, and spend the night in a traditional desert camp.
After sunrise, explore the desert region. Visit nomadic Berber families and the village of Khamlia, home to traditional Gnawa musicians. Explore Rissani’s old market and kasbahs. Optionally visit fossil workshops or an oasis. Return to the camp or stay in a local guesthouse. Dinner and overnight.
Depart the desert and drive through the scenic Ziz Valley. Stop in Midelt for lunch, then continue through the cedar forests of Azrou (look out for Barbary macaques) and the alpine-style town of Ifrane. Arrive in Fes by evening and check into your riad in the old medina.
Enjoy a guided walking tour of Fes, Morocco’s oldest and most spiritual city. Visit landmarks like the Al-Qarawiyyin University, Bou Inania Madrasa, tanneries, Nejjarine Fountain, and the Jewish quarter. Explore the souks and traditional artisan workshops. Overnight in your riad.
Drive north through the lush hills and Rif Mountains toward Chefchaouen, the famed “Blue Pearl” of Morocco. Arrive in the afternoon and enjoy free time to explore the blue-washed alleys, hike to the Spanish Mosque for panoramic views, or relax in the main square. Overnight in a charming riad.
Leave Chefchaouen and stop at Volubilis, the best-preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. Then continue to Meknes, an imperial city known for its gates and granaries. Visit Bab Mansour and the mausoleum of Moulay Ismail. Continue to Rabat or Casablanca (depending on your preference) for overnight stay.
